
I was born on August 26, 1976 in Savannah, Georgia to David and Pat Lassiter of Hardeeville, SC. I have one brother, Shay, who is 14 months older than I am. Hardeeville was my home until 1994. I attended school at Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, SC. After graduation, I enrolled in Furman University. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, graduating summa cum laude. I then attended Duke University receiving a Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics. I joined the faculty of Roanoke College in 2005 as Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology. After two years serving in that capacity, I became an Assistant Professor of Biology.
My research interests include developmental biology, steroid hormone receptors, and new technologies.
My hobbies include hiking, biking, reading, computers, and playing the piano. I'm currently trying to see all the National Park unites in the nation. I enjoy listening to oldies, broadway, pop, and soft rock.
